Vinyl plank and tile floors fitted over a properly prepared base, for homes, offices and shops that want a hard-wearing, low-maintenance surface.
Vinyl has become a popular choice for homes and businesses that want the look of wood or stone without the upkeep. It is warm underfoot, quieter than tile, resistant to spills and available in a wide range of patterns. ALHUD Technical LLC provides vinyl flooring installation across Abu Dhabi for apartments, villas, offices, clinics and retail units.
The material is only half of the result. A vinyl floor shows every bump and gap in the surface beneath it, so preparation decides how good it looks. We spend the time on the base so the finished floor is smooth.
Choice depends on the room, the traffic and the base. We recommend a type after seeing the floor.
Vinyl is thin and flexible, so it copies the surface beneath it. Old tile joints, cracks and uneven screed can show through if left untreated. We check the base for flatness and moisture, then fill, grind or level as needed. Over old tiles, we may skim the joints with a levelling compound before laying.
Moisture is worth checking in ground-floor villas and areas near the sea. Damp slabs can cause glue-down vinyl to lift or click boards to swell at the edges, so we use the right barrier or adhesive for the situation.
Heat is the main factor. Direct sun through large windows can warm vinyl and make planks expand, so floating floors need expansion gaps at the walls and should not be pinned in place by heavy furniture or fixed units. Cheap vinyl can fade or discolour under strong sun, so we advise on grade and on blinds for sun-facing rooms; see our blind installation service.
Air-conditioned rooms add another factor. Rapid changes in temperature, such as a door left open to the balcony, can make floating floors move slightly, and good laying leaves room for that.
Many homes mix floors, such as vinyl in bedrooms and tile in kitchens and bathrooms, and we can plan the transitions between them.
Doors often need trimming when a new floor goes down. If they do, our door installation team can adjust them.
Offices, clinics and shops need floors that stand up to constant traffic and rolling chairs. Commercial-grade vinyl with a thicker wear layer is the right choice, and glue-down installation is common because it resists movement. Planning the work around opening hours matters, and we can organise out-of-hours fitting. See our shop fit out page for combined retail projects.
Offices can combine flooring with an office fit out.
We confirm the price after the site visit. Photos and room sizes on WhatsApp help us give a first estimate.
Sweep or vacuum regularly, mop with a mild cleaner and avoid steam mops or harsh solvents that damage the surface. Use felt pads under furniture, wipe spills and keep sharp objects away. For restoring dull floors, see our vinyl floor polishing guide.
Yes. It handles spills and daily use well, and it is comfortable underfoot. For sun-facing rooms we recommend a suitable grade and sun control, since strong sun can affect some products.
Click vinyl floats on an underlay and is quick to fit and replace. Glue-down vinyl bonds to the base for a firm feel and suits heavy commercial use.
Often yes, if the tiles are firmly fixed. The joints usually need filling or skimming so they do not show through.
Yes. A flat, dry and clean base is the most important part of a good vinyl floor, and we check this before laying.
Many vinyl products resist water on the surface, but water that gets under the planks or through joints can still cause problems. We advise on the right product and sealing for wet areas.
It depends on the quality, the traffic and the care. Commercial-grade products with thicker wear layers are built for heavier use.
